Clinton Bauder

Clinton Bauder is a Sunnyvale resident and a software engineer at Apple Inc. who spends most of his free time with a camera underwater. He is a founding member and was a longtime director of Bay Area Underwater Explorers, a California non-profit dedicated to using technical diving techniques to explore the ocean in Central California. One of BAUE’s signature projects has been a partnership with the Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary and his pictures are extensively used on their website and social media. He also helped document a number of other rarely seen locations in California including the Schmieder Bank and other deep offshore pinnacles on the Big Sur Coast. Clinton is a GLORES partner photographer with the Marine Conservation Institute which focuses on promoting and supporting marine conservation areas. Clinton has worked closely with marine biologists and his observations have resulted in quite a few range extensions for marine species. His photographs and observations have appeared in a number of marine identification books. Clinton has traveled extensively around the world to document the marine environment, often taking him to cold water locales less travelled by tourists. These include Antarctica, The Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas), British Columbia, Canada and Alaska. Examples of his work can be seen at his website.
