James Emery is an underwater photographer and videographer based in Monterey, California, where he works as the Marketing & Media Manager for Backscatter. Before joining Backscatter, he spent 12 years in Southeast Asia, working as an underwater photo pro—his last role at Lembeh Resort. He has won numerous contests including 1st Place for the Macroc category in Ocean Geographic Pictures of the Year (Small Exotic Animals), 1st Place in Ocean Art (Cold Water category), highly Commended & Commended at Underwater Photographer of the Year, and honorable mention at Ocean Geographic Pictures of the Year. He has had his work published in numerous scuba magazines, including Scuba Diver, Dive Photo Guide, and Dive Magazine. Find him around Backscatter and diving both locally and abroad!
